The episode opens with a long segment of Callan and Lonely breaking into a house of a notable scientist and makings copies of important documents.

It's a carefully planned operation. They need to leave everything as they found it.

It's all done meticulously so it stretches credulity that Lonely gets light fingered. Especially after the trouble he got into in the previous episode for operating his taxi for fares.

Another aspect of disbelief is a nearby police officer taking an interest in Lonely's back cab which is also unlocked. It's never explained why a beat policeman would be suspicious of an empty black cab at night.

Once Professor Rose disocvers the theft he rings the police. It is not long before Lonely and Callan are called in.

Once again Hunter is rightly displeased at Callan. He has had to call in a favour from Special Branch to have them released.

Professor Rose is giving away secrets to the Russians about an advanced radar network. Not a traitor just a misguided scientist who believes in sharing information so no one side has an added advantage.

His contact is a Dutch book seller called Amstel. He is actually a KGB hitman called Tamaresh. He coldly kills two Special Branch officers who were tailing him.

Callan berates Hunter for not sharing information with Special Branch that could had saved them. It seems both organisations are reluctant to cooperate.

I think Callan relished the order to take out Tamaresh.

This was an odd episode. It was the only contribution from writer Peter Hill and it just seemed out of place. There were too many daft things happening like Lonely pilfering after Callan is taking photos of Rose's study so they can leave the place as they found it.

Then there was Hunter enjoying dinner at his desk brought to him by Liz. Meres tells Hunter that it was from Dial A Banquet. Did Hunter really think his secretary cooked the dinner?
