"Death Chain" begins with a violent murder as some guy (Don Gordon) deliberately runs over a young lady. Next, the lady's boss (William Windom) hires Cannon to get to the bottom of the killing. But the boss' interest is far more than that of an employer--the lady was also his mistress and this is why he didn't go to the police, as he's afraid his wife will learn of his infidelities. As to why the woman was killed, it turns out that she was part of a robbery--and greed pushed the various participants to try to take ALL the loot for themselves.
This episode of "Cannon" is pretty good. I have noticed in the pilot and two episodes I've just watched that this rotund detective does a lot more brawling than I might have expected and in the end, it all boils down to Cannon crushing the wind out of the killer. Along the way, the show is exciting and well done. Not a great show but a very good one.
