The First Eunice And Family Sketch

The guests are Roddy McDowall and the Jackson 5, the are several questions on the Q & A. A red headed girl compliments Carol on her red hair. Another asks if Carol ever streaked (a fad at the time of people running nude in public). She says no, there's enough violence on TV. This show turns out to be one of the best in series history.

Roddy McDowall is introduced and he comes out in his "Planet Of The Apes" makeup. He pretends not to notice and he and Carol sing a medley. A short film of someone being made up into an ape is shown.

Then we get the first time we see the classic characters of Eunice, Ed and Mama, the southern dysfunctional family. Roddy plays Eunice's Pulitzer Prize winning brother Phillip They are more interested in arguing among themselves and watching Mama's new poodle than hearing Philip's stories.

There is a sketch of Harvey and Lyle as two male chauvinist carpenter and Carol as their new worker. It's interesting since Harvey and Lyle get a rare chance to work on a skit together as they act more girly and gossipy than the Carol character.

The Jackson 5 (plus their little brother Randy) do their hit "Dancing Machine" and Michael does some robotic dance moves.

Carol and the regulars play bus riders waiting for the bus while a public phone rings. They think it could be a quiz show calling, this has a funny ending.

Carol and Roddy do a very funny "Brief Encounter" spoof as they speak one word sentences, Roddy becomes a chatterbox at the end.

There is a very entertaining musical sequence where the dancers and the Jacksons play music students and Carol is their stern teacher. They do a version of "This Old Man" and the Jacksons sing their hit "ABC" while Carol shakes it up.

Carol reminds us about pollution and everyone signs her book.
