Melora Hardin nearly joined Lea Thompson in Back to the Future (1985) as Jennifer Parker when Eric Stoltz was still cast in the role of Marty McFly, but when Michael J. Fox replaced him, a lot of the female crew members remarked how much taller Melora was than Michael. Much to her chagrin, Melora was let go. Producer/co-writer Bob Gale always felt bad about the decision and he and Melora would later collaborate on a graphic novel presenting an alternate timeline where Melora remained in Back to the Future (1985).
