This installment of "Cavalcade of America" stars Charles Bronson and Joyce McCluskey. When the show begins, it's during WWII and John is in the Merchant Marine. However, through some mistakes and odd circumstances, he is a man without a country. He apparently thought he was an American citizen and fought for the US but his immigration status was questionable. During this time, he met and married Dolly. However, after the war, he was told he might be deported and had to go through hearings to determine if this going to occur as well as where he should live in the meantime. After being released pending further hearings, he and his wife went across America gathering information and getting affidavits to prove John's eligibility for citizenship. It was a very long and exhausting process and at the end of the show you learn if the efforts would pay off or not.
The acting was very nice in this one and it had a surprisingly low-key performance from Bronson. Well written and a tad schmaltzy--but enjoyable schmaltz!
