According to Joseph Cates, assistant to Cavalcade producer Milton Douglas, this episode marked the very first appearance of Jackie Gleason's flamboyant millionaire playboy character, Reginald Van Gleason III, in a sketch titled 'Man of Distinction.' Gleason would say many times in the years to come that Reggie was his personal favorite character. This program also marked the very first appearance of Art Carney as the photographer in the Reggie skit. Carney and Gleason would, of course, have a decades-long relationship.
