Warning: Spoilers
An old friend (and bridge partner) of Bosley, who has turned her estate into a private institute for psychic research, believes she has been contacted by her dead nephew from "the other side". Bosley thinks it's all a big fraud, so Charlie sends Kris and Sabrina undercover at the institute, as researcher and gifted psychic, respectively. Pretty soon a shocking murder occurs there - a murder that seems to have been committed by a ghost!

Probably the most "out there" episode of the series since Season 2's "Unidentified Flying Angels", but with an important difference: in that episode you knew all along that the UFOs and the other extra-terrestrial stuff were a complete fraud, while in this one the possibility of an actual (malicious) ghost is kept alive nearly all the way. The solution of the mystery is simple but ingenious - the kind of twist that made Agatha Christie famous, updated to the late 1970s. The music score goes wonderfully spooky, and Kris has a great line: "Some of my best friends are detectives"! *** out of 4.

Haunted by Angels

Not the most memorable episode but enough happens to keep viewer interest. I waited a week to write the review and had to be reminded of the plot details. Bosley's old card game friend Claire has been pouring money into a psychic institute because she believes they can contact her nephew who died tragically in a motorcycle accident. There is some question just how nice this young man was in the first place, and Bosley does discover some unfavorable facts about him.

Much like the UFO episode in season 2, this involves scammers.

Sabrina plays a fake psychic, Kris plays a fake researcher on psychic phenomena, and Kelly investigates a cheesy TV psychic named Peter Russell, played by respected character actor Peter Donat. Over the course of an hour and murder is committed during one of these psychic events and there's a big mystery as to why and how it happened. It's even possible a ghost could have done it.

Kris shares a romantic interest with Eric Knight, one of the institute's resident psychics. He seems like the real deal as he picks up on the fact that Kris is not who she says she is. Sabrina has the big discovery in this one, using her intuition to uncover a conspiracy.

Overall this not a fast-paced plot, it's one built around a mystery that takes a little while to unfold. The main lesson seems to be that if something is too good to be true it probably is. And the Angels will always find out if you're up to something.
