Back to the future
owlaurence9 July 2008
Warning: Spoilers
It is time for some explanations. Although we know that Chris is not trustworthy, the past episodes have shown him as a basically good character, so we now want to know the why behind all his actions. This episode partially fills in the blanks, as for once it adopts Chris's point of view, jumping from his past (in the future) to his present (in the present and the future). I am not certain that the "big revelation" really works, since the dialog has been blatantly not naming names, but well, it still provides a very good development for the season.

There are some huge flaws in the plot, though. First : did there HAVE to be flying cars in that future ? It's the most cliché-ed anticipation thing ever, and besides, this is only supposed to happen twenty-two years from now ! Second : while the side-plot with the inhibition spell does prompt some changes and provides some nice scenes(just watch Leo's wry smile when he throws that potion at Piper ! bet he's wanted to do that for years !) it seems very inconsistent with the gravity of Chris's situation. And third : what about Bianca ? She had a lot of potential as a character, but she's never been mentioned and never will be again. So instead of giving depth to Chris's character, she merely is a cheap and artificial device to make us sorry for him. The plot should rather have concentrated on Chris's relationship with Wyatt, even at the expense of the last-minute twist.

The One With Chris's Past...

Warning: Spoilers
I love this episode. It's fantastic. Not only do we get to see an alternate reality/universe, we get to find out why Chris really came to the past in the first place, as well as seeing it ourselves. I love finding out that Wyatt is actually basically, the ruler of all things evil. It's so twisted, but such a good storyline.

In this episode, a woman tries to kill Chris, or so it appears. She's from the future, like Chris, and she was trying to strip his powers away and take him back to the future with her. Chris gets sick from the non-drainage and passes out. The Charmed Ones try to figure out what's happening. First off, Chris was engaged to this woman. We see his memories of the evil future he comes from and it is certainly not pretty. It actually turns out that Wyatt is the big, bad evil that Chris is trying to stop. So he's not protecting Wyatt from being hurt by evil, he's protecting Wyatt from becoming evil. Bianca, the fiancé assassin takes Chris to the future with her, after stripping his powers away. There, we see Wyatt and he is not happy. Bianca gets murdered by Wyatt in the Halliwell Manor, which has become a museum about the Charmed Ones, but it really reminds people of Wyatt's power. The Charmed Ones discover a broken floorboard and assume that it's still broken in the future, so they send a spell in it, which brings Chris's powers back. After he gets them back, he escapes with the time-traveling spell so no one else can use it, and he goes back to the present day. The sisters want to know what was really going on, but he is still reluctant to reveal pressing information.

Overall, I give this episode a 10 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Freaking Ridonkulous.

Back to the future (Not the movie)

Warning: Spoilers
Chriscrossed gives us an opportunity to see the future Chris came back to change as the world knows about magic and Wyatt rules over the planet as a tyrant. Meanwhile a Phoenix assassin travels to the past to retrieve Chris. This is the best episode of season six as we kept hearing about this future, which doesn't disappoint since the manor museum was creative and Wyatt surrounded by his demon body guards happy with San Francisco in ruins shows how far he's fallen from the side of good. My own complaints is it never devolves deeper into this apocalypse with how people normally go about their day, maybe a resistance lead by Chris and where do the Titans fit in? Still I give them credit for showing the tour group who seem in a trance as they view the artifacts as if it were another day.

Another aspect is Bianca's relationship with Chris which was bitter sweet as she turned against her heritage for him, only to be corrupted to stay alive and once saving her fiancé dies in his arms with the hopes it won't have to come to this again. I wanted to see more of there relationship since it ravels my love for Piper and Leo. This episode is so good that it needed to be a two parter to cover all the great material within and let us see flashbacks to this exciting, dangerous future.
