There is a DEMON in the playpen !
owlaurence9 July 2008
Warning: Spoilers
A very good episode, with some very good twists and consistent character writing. The sisters find themselves in a totally unexpected situation where they actually end up babysitting a demon. When both sides of its family decide to take it back, things get messy at the manor... especially as Wyatt and the newcomer have become instant friends and play merry havoc with their respective powers. Honestly, those babies are irresistible.

What makes the episode very interesting is that it creates a direct parallel with Wyatt and emphasizes the season's core interrogation : what makes someone good or bad ? Are people born good/evil, does it depend on their upbringing, or on a personal choice ? Granted, that had already been raised with Cole, although not so clearly ; but this episode lets us hope for a better outcome, this time. As for the side-plots, they also have their good moments. Phoebe's big blunder will soon come back to haunt her, and it is good to see Darryl, and to have him actually enjoy himself for once -if only briefly.

The One With The Demon Baby...

Warning: Spoilers
I really like this episode. It's really good. I love seeing Wyatt interact with another baby. That's just so cute. It's also very cute when Wyatt and the baby are playing games with their powers.

In this episode, the sisters vanquish a demon and find a baby there. The baby is half- human, half-demon and Chris tries to convince them to vanquish it, but they refuse. Other demons come and try to take the baby away, being the same demons as the baby's mother, but then another demon-monster-creature comes and accomplishes taking the baby, as well as Piper. Piper finds out that the demon-monster-creature is actually the baby's father, and transformed himself into that creature so he could fend off the demons and get his son back. In the end, they vanquish the demons, the creature gets turned back into a human and the baby gets to live with his father. What a nice ending.

Fun Fact: This is the first time we see someone orb to the top of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Overall, I give this episode a 9 out of 10.

Nature vs Nurture

Warning: Spoilers
A fluffy episode of charmed as the witches arrive on a vanquish leaving behind a baby half human. Piper is kidnapped by daddy who will do anything to be reunited with his son. I felt for Derrick as he was a father tricked by a demon into during a child only to have him ripped away. He creates potions to disfigure his body so he can be with his son and showing a parents love knows no bounds. I was over joyed to see him get his happy ending when he takes the baby home to live normal lives that he fought and dreamt of for years.

The other factor in the mix is the witches wondering if the baby is evil by it's parentage or by upbringing. Sure he can shimmer, hisses like a snake and cry like a vulture but he gets along with Wyatt and even helps the witches vanquish the demons who kidnapped him. It seems that like Cole any half demon has a choice to be who they want and witches shouldn't be in a rush to vanquish them. It makes me wonder how Phoebe's son would've turned out if given the same chance and surrounded by good or look at Wyatt turned evil yet his parents were champion's of good.

This is where it all went wrong.

The show got preachy and condescending with its viewership. At least in 2003, it wasn't systematic, but it still felt like they were trying to sway us in a different way... Chris clearly comes from the future, real life future even, when he doesn't bother with third-rate sentimentalism. He clearly knows what he's talking about... I thought the show was back to its former glory, with all the good storylines and funny moments (The Power of Three Blondes is great) but next episodes proved me wrong. And now I get why season 4 is said to be the best of the Paige's seasons...
