Double the price
Away from Checkmate Sebastian Cabot as a noted criminologist has all kinds of other activities in the criminal justice field. Among them is evaluating potential parolees and he's convinced and convinces the parole board that life sentence convict Gary Merrill is worthy of a second chance. Merrill as a young and stupid kid participated in a robbery where a store owner is killed and another man wounded and left a paraplegic.
But there are a few people out there with grudges against Merrill and Cabot brings in his colleagues to see that no harm befalls him. Bruce Gordon and Josephine Hutchinson play Merrill's long estranged brother and mother.
As for who is trying to do Merrill in, all I will say is there's someone who believes in the old adage that if you're a thief you think everyone else steals. Merill's paid more than his due in fact he's paid double the price to earn his freedom.
