- After a health scare, Norm gives up his old life and says he's moving to Bora Bora. However, he chickens out at the last minute and hides out in Sam's office. Meanwhile, Carla becomes depressed after losing a tip wager with Diane.
- Diane and Carla make a bet about who can make the most tips in one evening, the tips a measure of who is the better waitress. Even giving her a $10 head start, Carla is $9 ahead with 1 minute to go, however a last minute $20 tip puts Diane over the top. Diane is elated, but Carla is crushed by the defeat and mopes around for weeks. The only thing that will get her over the funk is Diane admitting she cheated. Although she didn't, will Diane do so if only to get Carla out of her funk? Meanwhile, Norm, who just landed a new job, had to take a physical for such, and the x-ray showed a spot on his chest. He questions his mortality and what little he's accomplished in his life. Later, he luckily finds out that the spot was just an error. He breathes a big sigh of relief but still does question what he's accomplished in his life. He now wants to stop and smell the roses. Ultimately, he decides to quit his new job and live his fantasy life: to sail to Bora Bora on a cargo ship and live in a hut on the beach for the rest of his and Vera's lives. Will this event be the end of Norm and Cheers' relationship? It may not be if Sam believes what he sees in his office after Norm's departure.—Huggo
- When Carla claims she is a better waitress than Diane, the two then have a day-long bet to see who can collect the most tips. It looks like Carla may win, until Diane gets a big tip from a couple celebrating their anniversary.
Carla then mopes about, feeling inferior. When Diane tries to cheer her up, Carla says that what would cheer her up is if Diane admitted she cheated. Though she claims she did not, Diane says she cheated...and Carla rubs the false words in Diane's face, causing Diane to keep telling everyone that she did not cheat.
Meanwhile, Norm has had a physical as part of his new job, and has grown nervous when an aberration is found on an x-ray of his chest. Norm begins to question his life, when he receives word that the aberration was nothing at all.
Norm then begins to consider a lifestyle change, and finally decides to quit his new job, and sail away to Bora Bora. The others at first don't believe him, but after Norm leaves, and a letter is received postmarked from Bora Bora, they are all quite impressed.
However, when Sam goes into his office, he finds Norm hiding in a back room. Norm claims he is willing to hide here forever, while Sam claims he should confess to the others that he didn't have the nerve to go through with his convictions.
Norm claims that the others will just chastise him, but Sam hints to the others at Norm's whereabouts...only for them to grow upset that he lied to them!
Sam tries to get the others to see Norm's point of view, and soon, several of them tell stories of things they wanted to do or be, but didn't succeed:
-Coach mentions how he wanted to be a well-liked bartender (though Sam says he did achieve that dream) -Diane tells of how she wanted to be a ballerina -Cliff tells how he wanted to be a famed trapeze artist
In the end, it is Cliff's story that sounds so ridiculous, that Norm emerges, and the rest joke around about Cliff's crazy dream.
