Sam and Diane are in close proximity. Frasier has plans for her, but Coach has a plans of his own. Because he can't hold on to bar maids (in the employment sense and otherwise) Carla has to work extra shifts. So Sam and Diane clear the air in his office and things seem to be sorting themselves out. Right! When one of Sam's employee conquests leaves angry, a job opening is produced and guess who may be available.

Rebound: Part 2 (#3.2)

Warning: Spoilers
Both Sam and Diane believe that the other one has still feelings for the other. Diane tells Sam that she is dating Frasier. The waitress in Cheers quits because Sam cheated on her and he needs a new one. So Coach makes it so Diane comes back. Frasier at first doesn't want it but Coach convinces him as well.

The second part of the season beginning where Diane is brought back into the bar. A good strategy as it makes it easier to have good story lines and with Frasier it will sure be a few.

Coach was great in this episode with his manipulation of everyone to get Diane back, indeed a great character.

"Swim Sam, Swim"

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is a great follow up to "Rebound : Part 1", first we have the estabilishing of Frasier as a solid character, he has a unique sense of humor and a funny and interactive way with the rest of the cast, he doesn't feel like the "outcast" he inevetably is at this point. This episode is once again filled with great moments. Frasier's interaction with Sam is great, better even Sam and Diane's interaction in his office, it really took us back to the times they were still getting together. Coach is marvelous manipulating everyone into thinking Diane staying is a good idea. My favorite scene however, mostly for being out the wall , was Diane telling of how she met Frasier, while we see the scene paralelling what she is saying it was a very well done scene, funny and a change of pace for the series. Season 3 so far is great, and has the potencial to be one of the best. 8/10 ******** Peter Shelby

A Worthy Follow Up
dgplatt-6012110 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This episode picks up where the last one left off, with Frasier counselling Sam on his alcoholism and Diane mulling over whether to come back to Cheers permanently. Both Sam and Diane are convinced that they're "over" each other, but aren't sure how to tell the other one.

This is a bit lighter than the previous episode, with some fun moments: Sam and the regulars both have the same reaction to Diane and Frasier (NORM: EW-you two should be very happy together). Diane recounts in flashback (a Cheers first) how Frasier met her by breaking up a croquet fight.

But it's Coach who has the last laugh, managing to outsmart Sam, Diane, and Frasier so that Diane will finally come back to the bar. Season Three is off to a good start, although there will be bumps ahead both onscreen and off.
