- A dying man wants to leave $100,000 in his will to the gang at Cheers. But everybody fights over how much money each person will get.
- Malcolm Kramer, an older gentleman in the bar, has just found out he only has six months to live. He mentions to Sam that he was happiest when he used to tend bar when he was a student, so Sam suggests that he go behind the bar and relive his old college days. He does so and has a great time, and so does everyone in the bar. Before he departs, he leaves a note in the tip jar to show his appreciation, this note unbeknown to anyone else until after he leaves. It is an amendment to his will, written on a bar napkin, bestowing $100,000 to the gang at Cheers. After getting advice from Cliff and wannabe lawyer Tom on the legalities of the bar napkin, the gang want someone to go get Malcolm back to legalize the will amendment. They also fight amongst themselves for what they feel is their rightful individual share - that is, everyone except Diane, who does not like what the prospect of money is doing to her friends. After Malcolm comes back and legalizes the document, he leaves it up to Sam to divvy up the money. Sam has the difficult task of figuring out what to do with it, or so he makes everyone believe. But Diane may have the final say in what happens with the money.—Huggo
- When taking an elderly gentleman's order, Diane is saddened to hear that he claims he's having a miserable day. She attempts to cheer him up, only to have him state the real reason for his mood: he only has 6 months left to live.
Diane mentions this to Sam, and Sam intends to do what he can to cheer the man up. The man, named Malcolm Kramer, explains that he once tended bar during his college days, and Sam and Coach let him behind the bar at Cheers. Over the next few hours, Malcolm's mood has gone from sad to happy, before he has to leave at 11pm to catch an airplane.
After he leaves, Carla finds a note left behind on a napkin, in which Malcolm has hastily amended his will to leave $100,000 to the gang at Cheers. In a matter of minutes, every other person is trying to figure if Malcolm's amendment will hold up, and who is allowed to get how much. Diane however, is the only one who wants no part in the matter.
To make sure the amendment is legal, the gang sends Coach to retrieve Malcolm from his hotel room. Every other person attempts to cozy up to him, trying to convince him on who needs the money the most. Still in a hurry to catch his airplane, Malcolm signs the amendment over to Sam, leaving it to him to divide up the money before he quickly departs.
Once Malcolm leaves, the group advance on Sam to divvy up the will. Sam originally says that he is going to divide up the money equally, but when this continues to upset everyone, he sets fire to the napkin and goes to his office.
Diane follows Sam into his office, only to find that Sam burned another napkin, and still has the amended will. Sam begins greedily talking about spending the money on himself, and letting Diane in on it as well. She almost gives in when Sam claims she can use part of it to help people or worthy causes, but soon grows shocked when Sam eagerly talks about wishing Malcolm to die as quickly as possible for him and her to collect. The talk of him wishing someone like Malcolm a quick death shocks Sam, and he quickly burns the will. Diane then says she's proud of Sam and leaves. However, she quickly ducks back in, asking Sam if he really did burn the will this time. When he answers yes, she claims that it is good, as anyone who would lie about such a thing would be guilt-ridden for the rest of their life.
A few seconds later, Sam pulls out the actual will, and this time, destroys it for good, muttering how much he hates Diane and her conscience-eating words.
