CIMARRON CITY – The Blood Line- 1958

This is the tenth episode from the 26 episode run of the western series, CIMARRON CITY. This series ran between 1958 and 1959. The star of the series was George Montgomery, a rich cattleman who is also the mayor of Cimarron City in the Oklahoma Territory. Regular cast members included, John Smith and Audrey Totter.

Richard Jaeckel is a young cowhand enjoying a game of poker in a saloon. Jaeckel realizes he is being cheated by card sharp, William Bryant, and calls him on it. Bryant wishes to settle the beef with his six-gun. Jaeckel, not being armed is not so inclined. A man, J. Carrol Naish, who has been watching the game steps up and also calls Bryant a cheat. Naish fills Bryant with lead when the gambler goes for his piece.

Later on, Naish approaches Jaeckel and introduces himself. It seems that Naish is the long absent father of Jaeckel. Jasckel is at first upset with this bit of news. Naish explains that it had been Jaeckel's mother who had kicked him out. Now that she is dead, Naish wishes to make up for lost time. Jaeckel soon takes a shine to the slick talking Naish.

The pair ride off to see about a "job" Naish has lined up in Cimarron City. Jaeckel is not the least bit happy when he discovers this job involves a bit of kidnapping, murder and robbery. Jaeckel is forced to make a choice when Naish starts killing people. Will it be the right one? This is a pretty good episode, with old pro Naish pulling out all the stops as the slightly loose in the brain-pan killer.

This might have been a pilot episode for a spin off series as star George Montgomery does not appear in it.
