Warning: Spoilers
It's Christmas and Corky and Uncle Joey are shopping for a present for Big Tim Champion, but the store has to close as the owner has to attend a town council meeting. They find people putting up signs, no Circus People allowed on the streets after sundown. Uncle Joey tries to explain the sign to Corky by saying it's for safety as the town rolls up the sidewalks at night.

Big Tim is ready to cancel and go. It seems the town was hit pretty hard by a traveling carnival; and as Joey says, once you are mauled by a cat you think all cats are of the same stripe. Corky gets into a scuffle with David Farmer, the son of Ben Farmer who runs the town. Ben is a cheapskate. He even refuses to donate money to the children's Christmas fund. It turns out the Rev, McNair invited the circus, not the council. And the Rev. and Toomis Flager, the store owner, are the only two men willing to stand up to Farmer. When Big Tim address the town council, David covers himself with dirt and claims Corky beat him with a rock.

Joey knows that Cory's explanation is no doubt the true one but the damage is done. In town, David wants a present from under the tree in the town council building. He breaks in and is trying to light the candles on the tree inside when the tree goes up in flames. Big Tim tells his men to get into town to help put out the fire. David is trapped in the building and when Big Tim and Joey fail to get him out, Corky is able to have Bimbo push in a wall, then Corky goes in to get David.

The Rev. and Toomis remind Ben Farmer about the Bible lesson of loving your neighbor. Having a turn of heart, Farmer replaces all the burned presents for the poor farm kids, and he even plays Santa Claus for the kids and gives Big Tim a sign reading Circus People Welcome. He even gives the Rev. a check for $2000 for a new church. Ho.ho, ho! Merry Christmas!
