The Traitor
claudio_carvalho17 June 2017
While in the front, Lt. Hanley is surprisingly summoned to go to London. He goes to a hotel, where the journalist Ted Slocum unsuccessfully sounds him out in the bar. Then he receives a mysterious phone call and heads to the informed address. Hanley is interviewed by the British intelligence and asked to go to France to bring the French physicist Dr. Barole to Switzerland. Dr.Barole is an old acquaintance of Hanley, who studied with his son when he was teenager. Dr. Barole has unsuccessfully tried to flee from occupied France but lost his son. Now he does not trust anybody and is hidden and only his daughter Marie knows the hideout. Therefore Hanley is essential for the mission and his partner will be Ted Slocum, who is indeed a secret agent that speaks French and German fluently. Ted and Hanley parachute to meet three Maquis that take them to Marie. But soon they learn that there is a traitor in the French underground. Who might be the traitor and how to find him or her?

"The Quiet Warrior" Is a different episode of "Combat!" with Rick Jason only, but J. D. Cannon steals the show. The espionage story is original with Lt. Hanley acting as a spy but has nothing to do with "Combat!" series. My vote is eight.

The single presence of Lt. Hanley (Rick Jason) stays clear that had a sort of relay between he and Vic Morrow, the series was conceived as Rick Jason as top billing however the great acting of the troublemaker Morrow, they starts got more space to him, in this episode, unusual by the way Lt. Hanley was taken to London, there has a secret meeting with British intelligence, to a bold mission at France to bring back Dr. Barole a famous physicist that they afraid to caught in German hands, due Lt. Hanley had studied with his son and be close of the family, helped by spy agent Ted Slocum (J D Cannon) they must try out bring him and his daughter through Switzerland border, as nothing is perfect among three agents of French resistance one of them is an informer of the Germans, then the expert Slocum settles a plain to find the informer, stay in the air a suspenseful atmosphere of fear on darkest night until the ending!!

I spy

With the rest of the regulars getting a week off, Rick is sent to London for an offbeat episode, away from the fighting.

Mixing with civilians, he's on a top secret mission, taking the show briefly into the espionage genre. He's to contact an important physicist, who Rick knows from his school days, and is assigned to help him escape from France. He's sent back to Occupied France.

Rick balks, declaring "I'm not a spy!", but takes on the dangerous job. Guest star J. D. Cannon does most of the skullduggery in an episode in which fooling the Germans takes the place of actual combat at the front.
