"Freedom and those that are not free"
JordanThomasHall18 March 2019
Tom is meeting the new majority stockholder of his company. Eddie sagely understands it by relating it to getting a new principal at school. Tom is nervous, as is his secretary Tina, to meet the wealthy, powerful, and fashionable Mrs. Cissy Drummond-Randolph (Tippi Hedren, Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" and "Marnie"). Norman, on the other hand, comes on quite strong to her in his free spirit attitude. After reviewing the company, she mandates eliminating the one-man photo department (Norman) in favor of freelance photojournalists. Tom refuses and says if she fires Norman then she must fire him too. Tina tells Tom he thought irrationally, not considering taking care of Eddie. When Tom explains at home, Eddie is sympathetic saying he would have done the same. Mrs. Livingston, however, also thinks it is irrational in saying, "two friends without a job would be worse than one." She further explains his working could help out Norman until he gets a job. Norman also likes that idea. Tom reconsiders his position at lunch with Mrs. Drummond-Randolph. But, when he determines the reason behind the firing, he may reconsider once again and uses psychology to see if Mrs. Drummond-Randolph can.
