"If a cobra bit Manny Weisbourd, the cobra would die."

'Final Transmission' is another diverting episode in this prematurely terminated TV series. Mike Torello and his team must accept the fact that they can't focus on Ray Luca and his activities all the time; when a manic nutcase (guest star John Snyder, "Eraser") massacres the ladies in a beauty parlor, they must temporarily switch their focus to finding him. So Luca and his fellow lowlifes take advantage of the situation, stepping up their amount of thefts.

Series star Dennis Farina is in extremely fine form as always, and gets to show his romantic side with his wife Julie (Darlanne Fluegel, "Running Scared"). The supporting ensemble remains fun to watch; here, we get to see a young Andrew Dice Clay ("Blue Jasmine") as well as other guest stars as Ron Dean ("The Fugitive"), and comedy relief provider John Santucci, a former thief turned technical advisor and character actor. Once again, Tony Denison shows off a lot of screen presence as the confident Luca.

Granted, this episode is a bit of a comedown from the pilot, as some of the scenes with the psycho can get pretty goofy, especially when he's shown to have taken over a TV station. (That said, his introduction proves to be a disturbing sequence.) But 'Final Transmission' is able to wrap up pleasantly, and send the viewer away with a smile.

Seven out of 10.
