- Luca gets indicted and Torello is next, so his boss orders him to take a vacation. Luca tries to find someone to take out Holman in jail, before he testifies. He also asks naive Abrams for legal advice without disclosing the details.
- Phil Bartoli panics when he learns that the captured Frank Holman is testifying against the Chicago Outfit. At Bartoli's insistence, Ray Luca sits in on Bartoli's entreaty to local mobster Dominic Tranchita to assassinate Holman in jail, but neither Tranchita nor Ray want to take the risk. Bartoli also disagrees with Ray's advocacy of the narcotics trade, but Tranchita listens. What the Outfit doesn't know is that prosecutor Breitel is focusing Holman's testimony on Mike Torrello, especially on Holman's assertion that he gave the goods from a jewelry heist to Torrello. FBI agents ramp up the pressure by accusing Torrello in his office, searching Inger Thorson's home & bugging her phone. Joey Indelli saves Ray Luca's life from assassins whom Ray believes were sent by Bartoli, but whom Manny Weisbord suspects may have come from Tranchita, perhaps jealous of Luca's quick rise. Manny supports Ray by sending Max Goldman back to Chicago & hiring top Vegas attorney Everett Steele to defend Luca, Bartoli & Paulie Taglia against the indictments against them. But Ray's best legal advice comes from David Abrams in a jazz bar, who once again makes the mistake of showing off his legal brilliance to Ray on what he thinks is a hypothetical case. Chief Kramer persuades Mike to take a vacation to rest up before Breitel makes his big move.
