In Ancient Future, John and Kimberly uncover the connection between the 1964 Alaskan earthquake and a Native American legend that revolves around a buried Hive spacecraft. When aliens have been present in the show since the pilot episode, the finding of a spacecraft seems rather inconsequential, especially without the aliens present in the current episode. Bach wanting to retrieve the spacecraft is more than reasonable however, but the episode really goes nowhere, as it self-destructs. The whole thing's rather dull if you ask me, you need intimate character moments for this kind of thing to work.
