Fed up of her husband's gambling problem, Ellie upped and left with their young son, soon after he tracks her down, and tries every trick in the book to win her back, but he needs just one last throw of the dice.
I honestly didn't know what to expect, when I saw that David Niven featured, I'd expected him to star in them, rather than just introduce them.
If this first episode is anything to go by, then this is going to be some series, I really did enjoy this opener.
It's quite profound for 1959, I can't imagine addiction was on the minds of many people, but it made for a really great subject, Hal is desperate to win, but why?
You have the gambler's traits, the sweaty hands, the blowing on the dice, and of course the mindset of 'just one more throw,' it was very well done.
Cameron Mitchell was very good as Hal.
Impressive start,
8/10.
