In 1893, the World's Fair in the United States was held in Chicago from May 1 through October 30.
In November 1893, Colorado became the second state to grant women full suffrage, following Wyoming (1869) and Utah (1870; however, Utah rescinded that right from 1887 to 1895). Unfortunately for this episode, that would have made it impossible for women to vote in the 1893 election. Furthermore, elections for the House of Representatives (as well as Senate and President) occur in even numbered years.
