Phi Kapp (Phi Kappa Phi), was founded in 1897 at the University of Maine. It is an honor society, established to recognize and encourage superior scholarship, without restriction as to the area of study. Members are known to be the best and brightest from all academic disciplines (hence Tom's slight surprise that Ed was a part of it).
