- Greg's law practice now goes so well he's exhausted. He wants a secretary but is too stressed for time to select one, so Dharma decides to do that for him, and subjects candidates to loony tests, even horoscopes. When the apparently ideally qualified and motivated candidate is too attractive for words, as even Jane remarks, Dharma imagines what will happen if she goes by her principles of non-discrimination, before making up her mind.—KGF Vissers
- Finding that Greg is overwhelmed with paperwork and that her own efforts to help only lead to desktop carnal encounters (every time Dharma bends down to pick something, Greg wants to have sex with her), Dharma determines to hire him a first-rate legal secretary. She tries to get pointers from Greg's former secretary Marlene (Yeardley Smith) but discovers that Marlene's only real skill is in dodging work. She makes Pete's life miserable in front of Dharma, for a simple file. Marlene won't get up from her seat, despite multiple reminders for the file. She makes Pete go to the file cabinet himself, while the file was sitting next to Marlene all this time. Marlene says that Greg is a real hard worker and expects his team to come in to work every day. She tells Dharma to choose carefully as it is very difficult to fire anyone due to the labor laws.
After submitting applicants to a battery of tests, both skill-related and New Age (Professional, spiritual, tarot cards, horoscopes etc), Dharma finds the perfect secretary: the intelligent, caring, spiritually centered Kim (Liz Vassey), who also happens to be a former fashion model. Kim dropped out of law school to become a fashion model and always regretted it. She wants to work as a secretary to earn enough money to complete her law degree.
Dharma prepares Greg by telling him not to judge Kim on her looks. The way Dharma describes her, makes Greg believe that she is a hideous hag. Turns out Kim is drop dead gorgeous. Dharma says that Kim meditates and does Yoga. Kim is very limber and can get into positions that Dharma cannot even dream of. Greg believes that Dharma is testing his self-control.
Despite Jane's skepticism, Dharma insists she trusts Greg completely and goes out of her way to throw Kim & Greg together, going so far as to have her accompany Greg to a charity dance organized by Kitty. Kim does not have a boyfriend and comes off as extremely vulnerable. Dharma says that the charity dance event is a great place to meet some eligible bachelors. Since Kim has not had sex in over a year and Dharma thinks this would be a great way for her to meet new people. Dharma goes to a Smothers Brothers vineyard jamboree with Abby and Larry. Greg takes Kim to the charity event and introduces her to Kitty. Kim is wearing a low-cut red dress and looks smashing. Even Edward cannot keep his eyes off her. When the car brakes Kim supposedly had serviced fail, Dharma's trust looks like a fatal mistake.
Turns out Kim and Kitty went to same college. Kitty asks Greg to take Kim for the dance. Kitty wishes that Greg had met Kim first. Dharma survives the crash and comes home to find Kim in her robe. Turns out she got caught in the rain and Greg brought her home and gave her Dharma's robe to wear. Dharma throws Kim out of the window. Turns out Dharma dreamed all of this. Kim was still interviewing with her. Dharma never hires her & hires Marlene instead.
