- Used to being re-elected as the Alternative Cooperation president, Abby expects the same after nominating Dharma as counter candidate, who to all the Finkelsteins' horror is instantly elected. Dharma believes that all her changes are turning into disasters (because of Abby's devious work). Greg is delighted to get a case for Canadian singer K.D. Lang, so he can tag along to her studio recording, where he volunteers his services for a questionable approach to her recording deals.—KGF Vissers
- Abby is the president of the educational co-op. The instructors are fighting over every small issue and feel that Abby is not able to manage things properly. Marci (Helen Greenberg) is the secretary at the co-op.
When Abby objects to being president by acclamation yet again of the educational co-op, she impulsively nominates Dharma to run against her, and both women are nonplussed when Dharma is instantly elected. Marci runs the election by show of hands and Dharma wins. Abby takes Dharma out for dinner to celebrate the occasion. Abby is happy that she gets to spend more time with Larry. Abby says that Larry is not allowed to eat refined sugar or chocolate. She looks forward to watching theatre with Larry (specifically a rendition of the "Vagina Monologues".
While Abby tries to be supportive, Dharma sets about making changes. She wants to clean up the bulletin board, take out the missing cat posters (which have been hanging for many years), fix the lock on the co-op door which only Abby can open and call a repairman to fix the elevator. All of this backfires as the cat owner is angry that her cat might be dead, all the notices taken down hurt their owners feelings and so on. Dharma's office is being used as storage space for all the ingredients for the juice bar.
Claire (Kathryn Joosten) goes home upset when her cat poster is taken down and Dharma has to ask Susan (Susan Chuang) to take her "sex for seniors" class.
This convinces Dharma that Abby is sabotaging her. The front door is not locking right, and she calls for a repairman who takes the door away to x-ray it and fix it. The heater repair folks won't show up and the whole co-op freezes up as the missing front door lets in the weather. Dharma can't leave the co-op as there is no front door and gets stuck in the basement. Greg has to come rescue her and he shows her that the co-op front has a shutter, and hence Dharma doesn't have to stay there for the night.
Dharma turns to Kitty for help, and she advises Dharma to spread innocent rumors against her adversary. Dharma designs a new class schedule, but the one that goes on the bulletin board was not designed by her and drives everyone at the co-op mad. Dharma blames Abby of switching the schedules. But the co-op turns against Dharma and says that power has gone to her head.
Meanwhile, K.D. Lang asks Greg for a small legal favor. She wants the tenant for the apartment she sublet, to pay the cleaning fee. It is a very small assignment, but Greg is still very happy to take it. This quickly goes to Greg's head. He starts to see himself as KD's manager. He goes over her record contract and starts negotiating on her behalf with the record company, without her permission. KD fires Greg.
Turns out Larry was sabotaging Dharma because with Abby at home, he lost out on all his freedom. Larry says that he was able to eat meat, cake and watch Kung-Fu movies while Abby was away. Abby takes Larry away. Dharma reverts to Abby's style of leadership to deal with the issues at the co-op.
