- Dharma encourages the gang to use a plot of land next to Montgomery Industries for a community garden. She finds a bag of money there that leads to a man falsely accused of a crime.
- When Dharma sees Montgomery Enterprises has a large plot of land, she convinces Kitty to make Edward turn the investment into a communal gardening plot. This soon becomes a battleground with her loony commune over organic gardening versus a clinical industrial approach, for which Greg even hires a college expert. A bag of money is found, which turns out to be the missing fortune that Edward erroneously fired his chief accountant, Earl, for thirty years ago, taking him for a thief. Dharma can't help stirring the wound Earl had finally come to terms with. In both story lines lawyers experience a strange twist.—KGF Vissers
- 5 months earlier Dharma had convinced Edward to let her convert an abandoned piece of land owned by Edward and Kitty into a community garden. Edward says that this is a valuable piece of real estate and refuses but has to relent when Dharma tells Kitty that a garden would be a perfect place for Kitty to showcase her cultivated roses. Within 2 weeks, Dharma has mobilized Larry and Abby and a bunch of other people to start cultivating the garden. Dharma invites Greg to try his hands at gardening. Dharma tells Greg that gardening is a great way to unwind from work. Greg starts by ordering a 20-piece gardening tool set off the internet. Larry starts growing pot in a corner. His covers his corner with sheets, so nobody can see what he is doing inside. Marci is in charge of allocating the plots to the community in the garden. Kitty gets the entire front section for her roses and plus she doesn't do any work, as her husband's company owns the land.
Dharma discovers a cash deposit bag lost decades ago. The bag traces back to a man who was falsely accused of stealing it Earl Tucker (Edward Asner) and subsequently fired. Tucker's story was that he dropped it while he was being chased by a dog.
This sets Dharma on a mission to right a wrong. Dharma traces Earl & wants him to feel better, as his name has finally been cleared. But Earl has many issues in his life and with his family. Dharma is persistent and wants Earl to get back on his feet. Earl lost his job, his career and even his fiance as people thought he was a thief. Nobody would hire him after that. She even ends up tracing Earl's ex-fiance Janette who ended up leaving Earl after he lost his job. Janette and Earl eventually get back together and Earl reaches out to Dharma to thank her. Earl ends up suing Edward, Based on Dharma's encouragement to reclaim his lost dignity.
Greg gets into gardening himself and brings in experts to analyze soil health for his little patch of garden paradise. Dharma distributes ladybugs to everybody in the garden.
Kitty starts spraying pesticides on her part of the plot. Abby & Kitty fight over use of chemicals in the garden, as Abby thinks it will kill the ladybugs and will pollute the atmosphere. While Kitty reminds everyone that she owns the garden. Dharma intervenes and tells Kitty to give the ladybugs to do their job and says that if needed Kitty can use the organic pesticides. Susan's (Susan Chuang) pumpkins are trespassing on Kitty's roses and she hires a lawyer to handle the case. Larry has taken over the entire water supply to the garden. Greg is excited about the cherry tomatoes growing on his part of the garden.
Larry grows pot in a corner plot and covers it up, so nobody can see what he is doing. He gets arrested by DEA. Larry claims that he was growing zucchini in his plot, but he is hauled away.
