In this episode there are five actor/actresses from M*A*S*H. Two are from the movie, (Elliott Gould and Sally Kellerman); and three from the TV series, (Loretta Swit, Jamie Farr ,and William Christopher). Kellerman and Swit both played Maj. Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan in the movie and series, respectively, and now appear in the same episode, even sharing scenes together.
Also, in keeping with the M*A*S*H theme is the appearance of Christopher Norris who played nurse Gloria "Ripples" Brancusi on Trapper John, M.D. (1979).
This was Kim Little's first appearance as Nurse Susan Hilliard, who would become Jesse's girlfriend as the season went on.
During Sally Kellerman's last scene, the underscoring is reminiscent of "Suicide is Painless" - the theme of M.A.S.H.
This episode features William Christopher as a fine artist who is hiding his true identity under a different name. The name used for the fine artist is a real 17th century artist: "Sir Martin Beckman (1634/35-1702) was a draughtsman/painter, Swedish-English colonel, chief engineer and master gunner of England."
