Guest starring the late Lauren Dahl as Dr Carla Meyer

Warning: Spoilers
I saw The Killer Within today, pretty much a quarter-of-a-century after it debuted. Anyway, I also wondered what happened to Lauren Dahl, who played the pivotal role of Dr Carla Meyer. I was shocked to learn that she died in a car accident in California on December 12, 2004. She was only 26 years old at her untimely and shocking death. Life is cruel at times. Lauren put on a convincing performance as Dr Meyer, who was sleeping with one of her patients. On of the subplots is Jesse getting all famous with BBQ Bob's, with talk even of a franchise. It's not uncommon for a doctor to become a celebrity chef, so good on Jesse.

Enough is Enough

It was about this point that I lost patience with Diagnosis Murder. It became less and less about a hospital doctor and more and more simply a police series. The notion the a homicide detective, who arrests a murderer et at least once a week, could spare the time to open and run a hamburger joint is ridiculous and equally ridiculous is the idea that a junior doctor could be a partner in the operation.

My grudge against Diagnosis Murder is similar to the one I hold against Murder, She Wrote which more and more moved away from Cabot Cove so that Jessica could solve murders all over the world, murders for which the local police had arrested the wrong person.

Standard TV crime ep.

This is a run of the mill episode of a routine series played in freshly painted decors by a couple of distinguished leads (the older Van Dyke and Cassidy) surrounded by hopefuls who never hit the big time.

Lisa Sheridan registers as Cassidy's junkie protégé of who gets involved in a murderous rehab unit.

Dialogue has them considering a nineteen year old who drops out of therapy because she's offered an acting job and Dick commenting on performers welcomed back too soon.

That's the nearest it gets to significant.

The rest is machine made pap.
