I enjoyed Robert Redford's Quiz Show, a movie from the 90s that chronicled the quiz show scandals of the 50s, and this Diagnosis Murder episode,Two Birds with One Sloan, was sort of premised on that, with shades of a murder of course.
I especially liked the end credits of the game show in this episode, Through the Roof, quite funny! The host (and later proved to be the murderer), Drew McIntyre was hilarious when he chewed out the writers big time! John Griffin plays Drew, and in real life John studied at Stanford University and Oxford University (not Oxford Brookes University). I am very impressed!
Ken Lerner as Saul Singer was wonderful! He really relishes the role. Ken later played the ill-fated Principal Flutie in the Buffy series (before the Twilight movie franchise thank you very much) and I hear Ken is an acting coach.
One redemptive part is when Charmaine Dufour (played by the radiant Jennifer Taylor) is announced as the new game show host. This is a landmark in many respects because to this day, the majority of game/quiz show hosts are male, so good to see a progressive ending.
This episode was one of the final episodes of season 7, just a few months before the epic 2000 presidential election between Gore and Bush Jr.
