- Via Mel, Alan invites Rob, Sally, Buddy and their respective significant others to attend what he considers an important soirée that evening at his penthouse apartment where a bunch of network executives and sponsors will be in attendance. When Rob arrives home to tell Laura, she in turn tells Rob that they can't go because Ritchie is on the verge of an illness, as a girl who Ritchie was playing with that afternoon eventually went home with a fever. Besides not wanting to eat dessert and having an increased body temperature of 0.1 degrees Fahrenheit, Ritchie is showing no signs of being ill. But Laura's women's intuition tells her that if they end up going to the party, something terrible is going to happen while they're gone. She also doesn't see why they should have to go as she is certain the only reason Alan has invited Rob, Sally and Buddy is to have them be the night's entertainment. Laura tries to guilt Rob into staying home, and Rob won't go to the party alone regardless. So for the two of them, it's an all or nothing proposition. Either way, neither will be happy as the one who doesn't get his or her way will worry about what is happening at the other locale. The outcome of their decision of what to do shows them the state of their young marriage.—Huggo
