Man Bites Dinosaur.

Warning: Spoilers
Looks as though Robbie's stuck babysitting the Baby tonight. It was either this or go to Charlene's school play with the rest of the family. Things get off to a rocky start when Baby defies orders and tries to have a cookie before finishing supper. Despite Robbie's orders, Baby scarfs down the cookie and subsequently chokes to death. A frantic Robbie rushes to the phone to call an ambulance, but can't remember that pesky three-digit emergency number. Baby reminds him, thus revealing the ruse and making Robbie want to kill him for real. However, the little brat shows no remorse for messing with his brother's emotions, thinking it's hilariously funny, and demands a bedtime story. So, Robbie sits a spell and tells his little bro a scary story. A totally true one too. It was a dark and clear night, full moon and all. Robbie was walking a girl home from a date and they take a short cut through a graveyard, which had supposedly been the site where kids were once attacked by rabid cavemen. Robbie scoffs and says that if any rabid humans attack, he'll protect her. On that note, said rabid caveman shows up, growling and snarling. Robbie picks a fight with it and gets bit. At first it's nothing, but then it turns serious, and when no medical professional could help, Robbie goes to see a strange old dinosaur (the oldest and wisest in the land), who looks remarkable like Ethyl. He shows her the wound, as well as a strange mark on the palm of his hand. She deduces he was bitten by, of all things...a Wereman! Like we have werewolves, the dinosaurs had weremen. At the next full moon, Robbie would turn into a ferocious beast who would wander the earth, thirsting for the blood of the innocent.

There is only one solution: He has to beat himself with a silver club, which he couldn't find, nor did a silver spoon help. Unfortunately, the moon was full that night and Robbie transformed into a ferocious, vicious caveman...with hair growing out of him everywhere! He lumbers out of his room to stalk his first prey: Earl and Charlene raiding the refrigerator, but he flees when they throw food at him and call up the local angry mob. Robbie ventures out into the night and stalks his girlfriend, the one dinosaur he truly loved...or at least gotten to second base with. Oh Robbie, you dog. He interrupts the story to ask Baby if he's scared yet, which he denies, so Robbie brings up another point: the old gypsy had really said there were TWO ways to end the curse. Don't remember? She really said that. Anyway, the second method was unspeakably awful, but Robbie demanded to know, so the gypsy tells him: he must eat the toes of a bad baby dinosaur who won't go to sleep when he's told. Yep, this was all a true story. Robbie reveals his intentions and manages to give him a good scare. So much so he jumps right out of his highchair and hangs from the stalactites on the ceiling. Robbie tries to bribe him down with a cookie, but the jar was empty. The stores were closed, so Robbie promised to go next door for some candy. If they don't have any, he vowed to go all over the neighborhood until he had a full bag. This entices Baby to come down, so they go next door. The neighbor assumes this is a trick, not so much a treat, and wonders why on the night of October 31st of all days should he give them candy, and tells them to get lost. Robbie and Baby leave, wondering if they should wear costumes next time. And that's the story of how Halloween was invented.

Be sure to stay tuned after the episode for the premiere of Baby's first (and only) music video! It's catchy as heck. This was another good episode of Dinosaurs, perfect to watch around Halloween. Another good episode would be "When Food Goes Bad", about psychotic leftovers that hold the Sinclair kids hostage. The man playing the Wereman is not the actor inside the Robbie costume, but rather Kirk Thatcher, who worked primarily behind the scenes. He wrote this episode. And that's Bill Barretta (the actor inside Earl) as the rabid caveman who started the whole mess. So if you're not doing anything on the 31st of October, why not check out this little scary gem?
