A somewhat forgettable film.

Warning: Spoilers
*Spoiler/plot- 1961, 'Chase the Buffalo', Long before the West was explored to it's fullest, the frontiersman Daniel Boone had a powerful need to expand westward and to see 'over the mountain' into Kentucky Territory. This was an unexplored wilderness on the westward side of the Cumberland Mountains into a secret Indian Territory were 'the buffalo are many'. A traveling peddler tells Mr. Boone of a way to get there through the mountains. So Boone sets out, and finally discovers the unexplored garden-like valley with his large family of sons. He opens a land rush for the eventual westward movement of Eastern seaboard settlers.

*Special Stars- Dewey Martin, Richard Banke, Lala Powers, Kevin, Kerry & Brian Corcoran, Whit Bissell.

*Theme- Some people have 'itchy feet' and become explorers.

*Based on- John Bakeless book, "Daniel Boone".

*Trivia/location/goofs- The episode includes Walt Disney's personal on camera introduction to this show with its history and character introductions. Four TV Disney episodes turned into video releases. Others include: 'The Warrior Path', 'Chase the Buffalo', 'The Wilderness Road', and 'The Promised Land'. The shows are pure vintage Disney production with Uncle Walt's trademark musical scores; 'play' dramatic screen violence, morals and patriotic themes. Northridge California local residents, Corcoran family child actors makes another camera appearance as the many Boone sons.

*Emotion- The plot was slow, plodding, uninspired, and un-eventful. This series seems to be trying to reproduce the national success of the Davey Crockett frontiersman Disney TV series, but it did not. The lead actor does not have the same acting instinct or screen presence as Fess 'Davey Crockett' Parker did. It is a somewhat forgettable film.
