- A patient of Dr. Finlay's breaks down in the surgery when he implies that her ailments are psychosomatic. Dr. Cameron continues his lectures to the German prisoners of war at the local camp. Angus invites Janet to spend the week-end in Glasgow. Anne Stewart and Dr. Finlay share a quiet moment in the countryside.—Anonymous
- Dr. Finlay treats Anne Stewart, who has been at the surgery quite a bit lately. She finally admits that she is terribly unhappy with her lot in life. Finlay finds that she is in the same situation as many other young women now that the war is over. Her role as a wife and mother is not as fulfilling as it once was when they were replacing men in their jobs. Finlay encourages Anne to join the crèche at the church hall and as they meet regularly they clearly develop affections for one another. It's all too obvious to Janet MacPherson who asks Dr. Cameron to do something about the situation. With Dr. Finlay pre-occupied with Anne, it's left to Dr. Neil to speak in favor of the proposed National Health Service at a meeting of the local medical community. At the POW camp, Dr. Cameron continues to teach English to the German prisoners. He takes issue with the decision to show the men a documentary about the concentration camps. One of the prisoners in particular, Gerd Rentz, refuses to believe what he has seen.—garykmcd
