Bingham is showing a black charlady how to use the vacuum cleaner when a sudden gust of air blows Paul's report out of the window. Spotting it on some scaffolding, he makes his way outside. His nerve breaks and he is too terrified to move. He clings to the scaffolding for dear life while on the ground below people look up in horror.
Duncan and Dick think their friend has snapped, and is trying to commit suicide. Duncan tries to rescue him, only to wind up in the same predicament...
Following the dismal 'The System', 'In Charge' got back on track with this very good Garden and Oddie-penned episode. George Layton gives a good performance as the deteriorating Collier, though its a bit unbelievable that anyone should willingly put his life on the line just to retrieve a report he could easily have duplicated in half an hour. He obviously could not have been thinking straight.
Then as now, overworked doctors were a major N.H.S. problem.
