Vecchio has to confront his past as he takes on mob boss Zuko who specialises in extortion.
Vecchio and Zuko were at school together where Zuko and his cronies beat up one of Vecchio's friends.
When the church's poor box is robbed. Zumo makes it personal and wants the thief caught. He uses the police to find the thief and then Zumo plans to rub him out.
It turns out that the thief is a cobbler Joey Paducci who went out of business as he could not afford to pay off Zuko. When Joey saw Zumo put some money in the box, he felt entitled to it. After all he lost his business, home and family to Zumo's demands.
This is a character piece about Vecchio. He takes on Zumo and makes a deal with him to save Joey from a hit.
Even Fraser gets in a tangle with Zumo's goons and ends up badly injured.
It was probably a bit over the top that Vecchio would be able to take on Zuko one on one in reality. Someone like that would always be surrounded by goons.
The episode was balanced with women falling over themselves to be with Fraser at the church choir. However Vecchio's sister is determined to get Fraser.
