Warner Home Video includes the episode "Carnival Of Thrills" in the Season 3 box set and describes it as the Season Premiere airing 9/16/80. This is not true. Season 3 began late because of an actor's strike with "Enos Strate To The Top" on Wednesday 11/5/80 as a lead in to Sonny Shroyer's new spinoff series "Enos" which aired an hour later (another episode of "Dukes" aired Friday 11/7/80). "Carnival" was actually shot during Season 2 and aired as a CBS Special Movie Presentation on Sunday 4/20/80 after Season 2 ended. Since the show has aired in syndicated reruns, it is now shown as a 2 part episode (both parts featuring the same teaser trailer). For reasons unknown at this time, Warner chose to release it on DVD in the Season 3 set (possibly because of not enough space to record it with Season 2) and it is the syndicated copy on the DVD.
Bo remarks about having "given her his word" when Diane praises him for deciding to still make the death-defying stock-car jump even after all that had just occurred, just as Robert Craig "Evel" Knievel always stressed the importance of "keeping his word" about making a motorcycle jump, even if it was extremely dangerous.
