  Sammy Jo Dean Carrington : [still reeling after her discovery of Tanner's calling]  Isn't it unusual for a priest to take a year off?

  Father Shea : You have to realize what a year off means in our line of work. Even though Tanner is living and working in the secular world, he's still a priest. The vows are still sacred.

  Sammy Jo Dean Carrington : I see.

  Sammy Jo Dean Carrington : And... some men who take this leave, decide to leave the priesthood?

  Father Shea : Some do. It isn't easy for a man to turn a deaf ear to his calling. Of course the church doesn't give up easily, either.
