This episode is only the introduction of Rock Hudson as Linda Evans' former lover: it is not the kiss episode. However, towards the end, there is a framed picture which is supposedly of the young Daniel and Krystle and it was clearly made long before Photoshop. When pausing the scene, it becomes obvious that the youthful heads of the actors are placed on two different bodies. Evans' head looks like it is about to fall off while "Hudson's" body is that of a much smaller man.
This was the episode in which Rock Hudson debuted as Daniel Reece, a debonair billionaire who finds himself attracted to Linda Evans' character. Tabloid newspapers ran cover stories at the time using images of Hudson and Evans sharing an on-screen kiss, erroneously implying that Hudson might infect Evans with the recently discovered AIDS virus merely by kissing her.
Although seen now as a travesty that the news thought Rock Hudson's kiss would be fatal, and while the news has never been subtle in their motives for a story, it was a different time, and so much less was known about AIDS or HIV. Hudson's death marked the beginning of many people learning about the disease, and that included the media.
This marks the first time Danny speaks on camera.
This is a Christmas episode.
