In the overhead shot in the trauma room of the mother from the MVA right after she dies you can see she is wearing a gold heart shaped locket on a chain around her neck. After a cutaway shot back to the overhead shot the locket is gone. Later when her son is allowed to see her the locket is again around her neck.
Someone who's not a licensed veterinarian performing surgery on a dog is illegal. Everyone involved in such a surgery would have their medical or nursing licenses suspended.
During the scene where the young boy is viewing his dead parents in the Trauma rooms, the camera pans across the room with actors following. In the background, a crew member can be seen crouching down in the back of the shot, and his shadow reveals him ducking out of the room as soon as he is out of shot again.

While it is delightful to hear Broadway veteran John Cullum belt out show tunes, his character would never be able to do that with emphysema.
