- Although asserting to be off-duty, Carter's dinner date with a visitor keeps getting delayed till she's through dessert as Chen, on her first day as attendant, begs him to take 'just one easy patient' after his shift, but he never gets away, roped in to treat a hit band roadie with a bleeding toe and his fainting buddy, whose mother also proved cocaine-addicted, while injured members of the public arrive, including a small boy who got crushed as his babysitter lost track, and discovers a patient his blood poisoning from an amateur piercing done by her 'friend', who attacks him but gets smashed unconscious. So he's around, unlike Weaver who even misplaced her beeper, to step after headless Chen and Malucci mistreat a patient who dies from her grievous errors. Benton is called away hearing kid son Reece is in another hospital, mildly injured, where he learns his ex, the mother Carla, died in the crash and has to tell Reece and his stepdad. Kovac finds Abby ingrate and rude when he shows her his regular pub, leading to an overdue argument and breakup. Greene and Corday clash over the challenges of two working parents raising a baby in between ER shifts.
