The gorgeous taupe paint on the walls of Ellen's living room---which provided its homey, warm feel---has been painted over as of season 3 premiere. It wasn't noticeable then because of the earthquake, but is very obvious here, since there is a shot showing the background wall in the hall, where the taupe paint remains and the contrast with the forefront wall is evident. The walls are now some kind of eggshell color.
Unclear as to whether she meant it as her character or herself, in the end tag, Ellen holds up her book to the camera and facetiously tells the audience to buy it. Naturally, Fran Drescher also had to copy that, in The Taxman Cometh (1996), where she and Jay Leno both hold up for the cameras their own real-life books while in character.
The rivalry between Ellen and Fran Drescher turns to mudslinging: a year later, Drescher would mock celebrities who shamelessly hawk their books in their shows, then does the exact same Ellen did. Drescher had been stealing ideas from Ellen---and many other sitcoms---from the get go, and Ellen had had enough, and started retaliating by lifting ideas right back from The Nanny. In one title, Fran even makes a callous remark about an alleged relative whom she then names as "Ellen". (It's in either Ode to Barbra Joan or Frannie's Choice.)
