- As the crew continues to repair the ship and mourn the dead, Archer works to create trust and form a partnership with members of the Xindi council.
- Enterprise has arrived on time for the appointment with Degra. Captain Archer invites them to their ship, while he does his best to convince both Degra and Jannar that the destruction of Earth is actually part of the grand scheme of the sphere builders to conquer the universe. While Jannar remains reluctant, Degra seems to be slightly won over. Trip Tucker is having a hard time keeping Enterprise in shape and is also having difficulties with writing a letter to the parents of crewman Taylor, informing of her death. Then trouble arises when out of the blue a Reptilian ship arrives.—Arnoud Tiele (imdb@tiele.nl)
- Captain Archer tells the crew that they will continue their mission, but will remember the 18 crew members who died in the recent battle with the Xindi ("Azati Prime"). He directs Enterprise to rendezvous with Degra (Randy Oglesby). They have weapons back online and hull plating is upto 80%. Tucker is not very sure about Degra and suggests hanging back till the time ship has made more repairs.
He also orders Commander Tucker to write a letter to the parents of Jane Taylor (Kipleigh Brown), a member of his engineering team who died in a recent battle. Tucker is increasingly irritable and hasn't slept since the attack by the reptilians. Phlox relieves him of duty for 6 hrs. Also, Sub-Commander T'Pol discusses with Doctor Phlox the consequences of her Trellium addiction, and is troubled when he tells her the inability to control her emotions may be permanent.
Arriving at a sphere, Enterprise is soon approached by Degra and Jannar's (Rick Worthy) ship (Degra confirms that he arranged for transfer of Archer back to the Enterprise and also forced the Reptillians to call off their attack), who Archer then invite on board in an attempt to gain their trust. In exchange Degra says that the weapon wont be launched against Earth for several days. He then reveals his evidence: the Reptilian corpses and technology of the failed viral attack against 2004 Earth (per the episode "Carpenter Street") (Jannar is still unconvinced saying that Archer could have captured the Reptillians and their equipment in the present and not in the past), images of the dying alien who attempted to destroy the ship (Phlox confirms that the alien died due to cellular degeneration, his cells simply ruptured in the physical universe), and scans of the interior of a sphere (which is why the makers built the spheres to Terraform the expanse according to their needs) (Degra says that the Xindi have calculated there are 78 of them)..
He again reiterates that Humans and Xindi are predestined to form an alliance to stop the Sphere Builders' incursion in the future. But he also demands that Degra reveal information about the weapon and its launch schedule. An increasingly persuaded Degra promises to do what he can to delay it. Throughout the crises, Tucker repeatedly undermines the Captain's authority by reviling Degra for the suffering he caused during the first attack on Earth that killed his sister. Tucker even confronts Degra when he visits the Enterprise to see Archer's evidence.
Meanwhile, a dangerous plasma fire erupts unnoticed on Enterprise's hull after a coolant line leaks inside the ship and eats its way to the exterior of the ship. Initially, the blaze is small, but it expands progressively until Tucker and Lieutenant Reed are forced to undertake an extravehicular activity to extinguish it. To make matters worse, a large Reptilian ship arrives captained by (Bob Morrisey) and they are forced to work together to destroy it, despite Degra's reluctance to attack fellow Xindi (degra destroys the Reptillian ship, else it would have contacted the council and exposed their alliance). With their pact now sealed, Degra suggests a meeting with the rest of the Council, and provides Archer with the coordinates.
