But when Janie asks if Shelly ever treats J.T. like a king, Shelly informs her that she is an old-fashioned girl who believes the man should bear the financial obligation. On their next dinner date, Shelly insincerely offers to pay the tab and is shocked when J.T. agrees. But Shelly finds herself in a tough situation because she doesn't have enough money. Excusing herself from the table, she quickly telephones her girlfriends to bring her money. J.T. sees Shelly accepting cash from Rita and Janie. He confronts Shelly, and she tells him the truth.
