- Robert is named captain of the Nemo's basketball team, and Raymond is jealous. But when Robert becomes a tyrant, the team turns on him. Robert quits the team, and Raymond becomes captain, which causes tension at home.
- Ray and Robert play basketball for Nemo's Pizza. The team has been on a long losing streak under Kevin's captaincy and the players decide to pick a new team captain. The majority of the team picks Robert. Even though the team starts winning, they are unhappy with Robert's attitude as a captain. So they replace him with Ray. With Ray being the new captain, he is away from his family a lot more...and Debra doesn't like that. Also, Robert is upset that he was kicked out of his job as team captain. So he joins Wo-Hop's Chinese Takeout's basketball team. After an argument with Debra, and seeing his family all sitting at the table having a nice breakfast, Ray has a change of heart and decides to quit the team so he can spend time with his family. Nemo's basketball team eventually loses in the final round of the playoffs to Robert and his new team, Wo-Hop's.
- When Nemo's basketball team performs badly in the Pizza League. The current captain Kevin Daniels (Kevin James) is only berating the team at half time for being beaten by Bed Bath and Beyond. Kevin only yells from the sidelines and never gets into the game himself. Kevin refuses to consider going to the zone defense strategy till the time he is Nemo's captain. Tom (Tom Paris) agrees and says that the team needs a new captain.
They briefly consider Ray for the top job, which Ray didn't grab when he had the chance, as he suggests opening up the captain spot for a little discussion. Another player suggests Robert as the captain. The other players elect Robert as their captain as he is really tall. Robert's first job as captain is to pick the line up for the 2nd half of the game. Robert picks Kevin over Ray. When Robert leaves him out of the second half, Ray is disappointed and jealous, as his own team won the game without him. Robert says that he didn't want to be accused of nepotism.
Debra suggests giving up the team and spending time with the family, and Ray agrees reluctantly. Debra teases Ray that he wants to be captain of the team. Ray says that he has been playing with the guys since high school and they have never come close to winning the trophy, but this time they are really close. Ray knows that he can take the team all the way if he is the captain. Debra says that Ray has the wrong priorities, and he is choosing quantity over quality.
Frank is proud that Ray stepped aside and let Robert be the captain of the team. Frank calls Robert a leader of men, and Ray a loyal follower. Robert bosses the team around. He lectures the team even when they win their games, and they kick him out. Even Ray sides with his teammates as Robert won't let Ray play. Ray says that if Robert is not going to play him, then he can be home spending time with his family. Ray says that the captain thing has gone to Robert's head. Robert quits as the captain as he believes that Ray has betrayed him.
Ray becomes their new captain and misses a day out with Debra and the kids. Ray pulled a muscle, and his team still lost the game. Michael says his first words, Ally beats a bully for tormenting her brothers and the family had a great time which Debra didn't film as Ray is the video guy. He also missed a double chocolate fudge cake. Ray has another game the next day, as the playoffs are starting.
Marie is angry with Ray for betraying Robert and not backing him for the captaincy. Ray says that Robert was out of the control and the team kicked him out. Ray meets Robert and wants him back on the team, but only as a player. Ray wants Robert to help the team win the play-offs, but Robert declines. Eventually, Ray quits, as he wants to spend more time with his family and not run after a trophy which has no meaning in life. Ray has messed up the uniforms for the playoffs and then prepare for the match. But as he heads out of the door, he looks at his family having breakfast and decides to stay. Robert joins the opposing team and wins the game for them.
