- Ray decides to take Gianni to the Super Bowl with him. But the rest of the family wants to go.
- Ray gets to go to the Super Bowl and cover it for his newspaper. He brings Gianni but feels bad about not having brought Debra when he sees that all the other reporters brought their wives so he has her flown in and to prove that he wants to spend time with her he rips up the tickets to the Super Bowl.
- The paper is sending Ray to the Super Bowl. He gets to cover the Friday press conference and then has 2 tickets to watch the game on Sunday. Ray now has an extra ticket to the super bowl, and he has Frank, Robert, and Gianni at his place.
Ray chooses Gianni to go with him. Frank, Robert and Debra get very upset, each wanting to be his companion. Frank & Robert think Ray should favor family over friends. Marie wants Ray to arrange for 2 more tickets and Ray has to explain to her that this is not how it works and that he cannot get extra tickets to the super bowl. Robert storms out saying that Ray will die alone. Frank also storms out saying that Ray will find no mention of himself on Frank's tombstone. Meanwhile Debra just wants time together with Ray away from the family and doesn't want anything to do with super bowl. Ray counters by saying that Debra would never pick Ray if she won tickets to something that she cared about and wanted to enjoy with her friends. Ray says that none of his fellow reporters will bring their wives either as everyone if focused on the game. Debra agrees and allows Ray to go with whomever he wants to take with him. Eventually Ray sticks to his promise to Gianni and takes him.
In the hotel, Ray realizes that his colleagues (Like Stu (Timothy Durkin), Rich (Robert Romano) and Doug (Edward James Gage)) have brought their wives. Ray knows that Debra is very good friends with a couple of the work wives, and he knows that she will eventually find out that Ray's colleagues brought their wives to the event. Ray arranges to have Debra flown in. Gianni can stay and can attend the super bowl with Ray but will have to stay with Ray's fat colleague.
The next day, Ray sets up Debra with the other work wives for a day of shopping and sight-seeing. Ray wants to go golfing with his buddies and wants Debra to spend time at the markets with the other wives and then be available to him at night for sex. When Debra realizes that he has no plans to spend time with her, she decides to leave. Debra is angry as now she understands that Ray never even wanted her there with him. Debra is livid that Ray never makes any plans with her, and they spend any time together and this doesn't even bother him.
To please her, he cancels the entire plan and also tears up and throws away the Super Bowl tickets. Of course, this makes Debra even angrier as she knows Ray loves the super bowl and she doesn't want to be known as the wife who made her husband throw away his super bowl tickets. Ray finally realizes what he has done and is a little unhappy. Gianni is mad at Ray for making him watch super bowl in the hotel room, while Debra takes a nap on Ray's shoulders as he watches the game.
