- If Ray and Debra both pass away, they want Bernie and Linda to adopt the kids.
- Upon drafting their wills, Ray and Debra must decide who would make the best guardians for their children. They choose Bernie and Linda, which offends the family. During dinner, when Debra and Ray try to ask Bernie and Linda, the family interrupts and makes them uncomfortable. Bernie and Linda refuse the offer because of their crazy family and Debra and Ray are forced to choose Marie and Frank.
- Ray has a near death experience that Debra mocks. A ball game misses Ray narrowly in the press box. A foul ball is typically caught by kids in the audience, but Ray insists that this one came in fast and furious and could have caused serious damage, had it stuck Ray on his head.
Debra decides to draw up their wills and Ray is not OK as he doesn't want to "tempt fate". Debra still goes ahead and makes an appointment with an attorney David Atkins (Gary Grossman). Debra says that Ray has been putting this off for years. Debra already has life insurance on Ray, and she gets $800,000 if Ray dies. Robert supports Debra and says that Ray would be tempting fate if he does not have a will. Ray is convinced when Robert says that he could fall into a manhole at any time.
Upon drafting their wills, Ray and Debra must decide who would make the best guardians for their children in case both of them die at the same time. Ray wanted to nominate his parents, but Debra counters him and insists that they are not the best choice. Debra wants a couple that is loving, patient and honest.
They choose Bernie (Tom McGowan) and Linda (Maggie Wheeler). Debra argues that they are new parents and hence would be experienced with kids. Debra insists on telling Marie that she chose Bernie and Linda to be their kids guardians, and Ray clearly wanted to not tell his family at all. Marie is horrified that ray is leaving his kids to strangers. Robert is angry that Ray chose an unfit lump Bernie over his own brother, who protects people for a living. Marie believes that Ray and Debra have an issue with Frank. She offers to leave him in case she gets custody of the children.
During dinner, Debra and Ray try to ask Bernie and Linda to be the legal guardians of the kids in the event of their death. But, the family interrupts, Robert comes in via the back door and Marie comes in via the front door and makes them uncomfortable. Debra tries to argue with Robert that he is single and that he has a dangerous job. Ray says that if he drops one of the kids, its very far to the ground.
Robert starts quizzing them on real life kid emergencies such as coco puff up the nose (Bernie and Linda say tweezers and emergency room, but the right answer is that you crunch and blow) or child playing loud music in the car (Bernie and Linda say that they would be firm with the child or ignore it. Robert says that it was a trick question since a child should never be in the front seat). Ray has to throw both of them out.
Once Robert and Marie are gone, Debra asks Bernie and Linda to be the legal guardians of their kids. Bernie and Linda refuse the offer because of their crazy family and Debra and Ray are forced to choose Marie and Frank.
