One of the better episodes of season five.

When this episode of "The F.B.I." begins, a team of four masked robbers break into a rich lady's house and hold her and her maid hostage. They then threaten to kill them if the woman doesn't tell them where she's hidden an amazing diamond. It seems it's a light blue diamond about the size of an almond in the shell! And, they say it's worth about $800,000!!! Even today that's a valuable stone!

During the robbery, one of the four men got shot but even after reversing and watching the scene again, I was confused as to how this happened. I think when he picked up the lady's gun, it somehow discharged into him. Regardless, the three carry away their confederate as well as the diamond.

The leader of this group is played by Jack Klugman and he did something unusual. In the 1970s, he generally wore a toupee and made himself look younger...but here he's without the toupee and they actually made him look older. Of the other three crooks, the memorable one was played by Daniel J. Travanti...who later starred in "Hill Street Blues".

So is this any good? Yes. It's interesting to see Klugman playing such a meticulous sort of professional thief and he was quite compelling. Overall, a very good episode...one well worth seeing.
