  [attempts to open the cuckoo clock, it won't open] 

  Xavier : Beautiful bird, Dimitri.

  Dimitri : Hold on. It'll come.

  Oscar : You're right.

  Xavier : In the military we know what to do.

  Boma : Oh really?

  Xavier : Absolutely. We'd have reconnaissance posts near DDT's garage, then agree on signals to signal the enemy's movements and then perform a surprise attack at the appropriate time.

  Doortje : Men...

  Pico : Where are you going? You're not going back to Dimitri, are you?

  Doortje : No, to Billie. That's the only man you can still expect sensible talk from.

  [she leaves] 

  Boma : Xavier, it's a brilliant idea. I'll set up an operation the army will be jealous of .

  Carmen : No, Xavier is a Sergeant. He should be the leader. Right?

  Pico : Carmen's right. Actually, Xavier is the only one who has experience with it.

  Boma : That's ridiculous. You need a *manager* for something like that. Someone who *can* lead. What do you think, Oscar?

  Oscar : Well, there's truth in that.

  Pico : Come on, Oscar. You're not going to put your wife's protection in the hands of Boma, are you?

  Oscar : [he gives it a thought]  Actually, I also think that Xavier's the right man.

  Pascale : I was attacked.

  [general shock] 

  Oscar : What? Attacked? By who?

  Pascale : [cynically]  He didn't introduce himself.

  Carmen : Xavier, stand up and move over.

  Pascale : Shocked, I was. A man twice my size.

  Oscar : Did he - You know - ?

  Pascale : No, Oscar. He was after my money.

  Oscar : Ah.

  Pascale : My purse is totally ruined.

  Pico : What, did he rob you?

  Pascale : What do you think? I yelled and I tried to hit him with my shoe until he ran away.

  Xavier : And *did you* hit him?

  Pascale : [cynically]  I didn't ask him.

  Oscar : But you recognized him, right?

  Pascale : It was dark, Oscar.

  Oscar : You have seen him, haven't you?

  Boma : [he enters]  Pascale, where have you been? Did you take a mud bath?

  [she looks in his eyes as he laughs, she gets up and runs off] 

  Oscar : [he goes after her]  Pascale. Pascale*ke*, Pascale!

  Bieke : Congratulations, Mr. President!

  [she goes to comfort her mother] 

  Pico : Didn't *you* see anything?

  Xavier : He isn't wearing his glasses.

  Boma : They're at the optician for stronger glasses. What's going on?

  Carmen : Pascale was assaulted by a man.

  Boma : Assaulted? Pascale? You're joking.
