Another in a long line of tragic child actors, Anissa Jones, who played Buffy, would go on to become a drug addict and die prematurely at the age of 18 in 1976 of an overdose. The coroner at the time said it was one of the worst overdoses he had ever seen.
Brian Keith was employed in a 60 production schedule. All his scenes were shot in two 30-day blocks. Any scenes that didn't feature his character were shot afterwards, separately. This explains why the 29 remaining episodes in the first season were all directed by William D. Russell.
This is the only episode in the first season not to be directed by William D. Russell. He directed all the remaining 29 episodes of Season 1 and two from Season 2 before abruptly dying of a heart attack at the age of 58.
