In the last scene, as Mr. French (Sebastian Cabot) is reading the Arabian Nights to Buffy and Jody, he abruptly decides to instead read Winnie the Pooh. Sebastian Cabot narrated three Winnie the Pooh animated shorts: Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree (1966), Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day (1968), and Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too (1974). These were later combined into one longer program, called The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1977).
This is the second appearance of the Winnie the Pooh book on screen. The cover shows the Disney versions of Pooh (in a red shirt) and Christpher Robin rather than the Shepard illustrations. This makes sense, as the first Disney Pooh short was released the same year that Family Affair premiered on TV.
Sebastian Cabot's right hand is bandaged starting with this episode and leading to his eventual brief hiatus due to health concerns
